Like many things in this world, quality is usually better than quantity. With food, my favorite burger is not from the dollar menu at burger king. With equipment, I only invest in products that will get the job done right. With clothes, better to buy a really great pair of work boots that will last through the toughest of jobs than a pair that you will need to replace after a month or two. With people, I'd rather have a couple of friends that I can trust, that will be there for me, than a lot who are only there when it concerns them. With relationships, best to have one great girl who cares about you than a bunch of floozies. Many things that we deal with in life are decisions that need to be thought about as investments, instead of just upfront cost. A great quote from Miles Redd,"Buy the best, and you'll only cry once." Is cheaper ever really better? Sometimes, but you usually get what you pay for.
To me, the top is never really attainable. I've been humbled through many different kind of experiences to understand that we should try to do our best in all things, but with the understanding that there will always be another battle, another obstacle, something that keeps us from actually reaching the top. If we did get to the top, were else would there be to go? In my line of work, the twigs at the top can't hold me anyway, so, both figuratively and literally, i would only be able to fall down. I'd say, enjoy the journey! After all, that's where everyone else is anyway.
Even though I love taking dangerous and hazardous trees down for a living, I also enjoy climbing them recreationally. This is my girlfriend Jackie and I climbing a beautiful Beech tree in Stratford.
This was her first time and she did great!
